My son, if you receive my words
and treasure up my commandments with you,
2 making your ear attentive to wisdom
and inclining your heart to understanding;
3 yes, if you call out for insight
and raise your voice for understanding,
4 if you seek it like silver
and search for it as for hidden treasures,
5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God. (Pro. 2:1-5)
Lets break this down. In this proverb, we are looking at some very important knowledge being shared. I read this as sound advice to us to make sure to listen to wisdom. Again, wisdom is a very big theme in the book of Proverbs.
We should seek out wisdom as we do “silver’, and in this meaning, silver is literally money. But I want to encourage you to seek out wisdom like you would a job, food, money, happiness or whatever else you seek in this life. We need to make wisdom one of the many essentails in our lives.
We need to seek wisdom like treasure (or your lost iPhone charger). Without wisdom, we have no real guidance.
